Chapter 45 Recovery Period
Chapter 45 Recovery Period
The first thing Zhen Tianzun did after entering the recovery period was not to behave himself.
It's because they find it troublesome.
He found the repair pod's notification sounds annoying, the recovery parameters jumping around in his head, and the overly neat temporary patching marks left on the edge of his armor from the knockdown unsightly. He even noticed that if the target vector looked at him for more than two seconds, he would lift his optical glasses and ask in a cold tone, "Are you free today?"
Vector stood beside the repair pod in the underground training room, arms crossed, looking at him. After listening, he replied, "I'm definitely a bit less busy than you today. After all, I don't have to be profusely while draining energy fluid."
Zhen Tianzun: "..."
His optical glasses lingered on her face for a second, then he gave a soft hum and said nothing more.
-
First, let's process the two part-time jobs using vector graphics.
She went directly to Jiuqi at the energy bar.
When the message was sent, the other party replied almost instantly. First, there was a series of exclamations of surprise that she would actually take the initiative to find the flight attendant, and then she honestly asked her how long she wanted to stay.
The vector stared at the terminal for two seconds, and finally replied:
[I'll hold out for a few days.]
I'll talk about that later.
A message quickly popped up from 97:
Your tone is a bit off.
Are you really okay?
Leaning against the stairs, he could still see the repair pod lights on in the underground training room out of the corner of his eye. His finger paused for a moment on the edge of the terminal, but he didn't explain further.
[He's not dead.]
"I just have something to take care of."
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end before a reply came:
Okay, I'll cover for you for now.
We can talk about it when you have time.
Looking at the line of text, the tension in his heart eased slightly. He replied with "Thanks" and turned off the frequency band.
She took leave from her other temporary job as a support worker outside the arena.
The registration machine initially seemed to be following procedures flawlessly, but when it saw how quickly she submitted her work stoppage application, it paused for a moment, as if it wanted to ask something casually. The machine didn't give her a chance, closing the interface as soon as the paperwork was complete.
She has no passion or anything of the sort that's meant for gladiatorial combat right now, so she doesn't waste her breath on nonsense.
-
The situation with Red Spider is a bit more complicated.
He approved it, but the captain had a mouth that couldn't stand not to say something sarcastic.
After Vector sent the leave request, the other end remained silent for a full half-star rating before finally replying: "You've finally learned how to ask for leave?"
The next sentence popped up immediately afterward.
I thought you'd first get yourself into trouble, then stand in front of me and say, "I'm just not in the best condition."
Yin Xiang looked down at the two lines of text, and his lips twitched.
Great, it's still the same old style.
She had intended to reply with a sarcastic remark, but her finger faltered as it touched the screen. She'd been exhausted these past few days, her mind constantly racing, and she didn't even have the energy to type properly. In the end, she simply replied:
Please take a few days.
It's not convenient to go there at the moment.
This time, Starscream's stoppage actually lasted longer.
So long that the vector started to suspect that while checking messages, the machine had mentally disassembled her from head to toe three times. After a while, another message popped up: "[You've never proactively asked for leave before.]"
One line immediately follows.
[Furthermore, the quality of your replies has dropped drastically in the past two days.]
Pointer vector: "..."
She stared at the sentence and suddenly had the illusion that even through the terminal, she was still being scrutinized from head to toe by those critical optical lenses.
She finally replied: "I'll make it up to you later."
This time, Red Spider didn't suffer any further losses.
After a moment of silence, he finally uttered a sentence:
【Row. 】
Go deal with your personal matters.
The next point reverts to his commanding style:
But don't actually think you can completely stop production.
I will send you the remaining sets of compatibility logic and old structure organization as usual.
You can do it just like you would at home.
After reviewing the vector diagram, the silent tension in my shoulder finally eased a little.
Red Spider had already let her go, and even though he knew she wasn't in a good state, he didn't press her to find out what happened, and even gave her the option to handle things remotely.
She tapped the edge of the terminal lightly with her fingertip and replied: "Understood."
After thinking for a moment, I added: 【Thanks.】
Red Spider responded quickly, clearly not wanting that "thank you" to linger on the frequency band any longer.
No need to thank me.
[I'll catch up on my efficiency once I get back.]
It was still the familiar tone of a senior scientist.
-
So for the next few days, the vector spent most of its time at home.
She didn't have a moment to rest.
The documents, diagrams, parameter packages, and compatibility logic from Red Spider continued to arrive one after another. Her left forearm terminal was almost never idle; she was either opening documents, taking notes, disassembling layers, or sorting through those fine and tedious structural lines.
The only difference is that the location changed from the Qingqiu City Technology Zone to the space between the second floor and the basement of Zhentian Zun's house.
Sometimes she would sit in the study on the second floor, spreading out a whole page of structural diagrams, her mind still following the train of thought that Red Spider had left a few days ago; other times she would bring the terminal to the underground training room, sit next to the repair pod of the Heavenly Venerable, and process the things sent by Red Spider while keeping an eye on the parameters.
Zhen Tianzun's initial assessment of the matter was simple: "Now you even have to do your work while sitting next to my recovery pod?"
Without even lifting his head, he continued to draw the famous projection.
"If I don't work, who will pay back your Shaknife?"
Zhen Tianzun leaned back in the cabin, looked at her for two seconds, and said in a flat tone: "Your current remote processing skills are still far from 200,000."
Yin Vector finally looked up at him, a smirk playing on his lips: "Then don't keep pressing for the debt."
"When did I urge you?"
"Your very existence is like a debt collection notice."
Zhen Tianzun looked at her and actually chuckled very softly.
"You'd better fix your mouth before your brain module breaks down."
"Same to you."
There are a few of these conversations every day.
Not much, but it cracked open a crack in the stifling atmosphere of the recovery period.
The vector also increasingly realized that although the Heavenly Venerable often complained that she was annoying, that she was in the way of the underground training room, that she was checking up on him by staring at the repair parameters, and that she was preparing the energy liquid for him too precisely, as if she were conducting an experiment, he never actually drove her away.
On two separate occasions, she was only ten minutes late coming back down because she went back to the second floor to process new data sent by Red Spider, and Zhen Tianzun's first words to her were:
Where did you go just now?
After asking the question, he would frown slightly, as if he felt that his question had been too direct.
At first, I was a bit taken aback by the vector, but after doing it a few times, I got used to it.
"Go upstairs and get the documents."
"Go and report back to Red Spider."
"I've prepared a new high-concentration energy solution for you."
She always answered very naturally.
And Zhen Tianzun would mutter an "hmm," and then, as if the question was meant to be asked, he would change the subject.
But Zhen Tianzun himself knew very well that he had already gotten used to her presence.
