Chapter 6 Taunt Golem
Chapter 6 Taunt Golem
"What's the cliff-jumping guy doing here again?"
Liu Huasheng narrowed his eyes, spurred his donkey cart, and charged towards Wang Shuaibo, drawing his construction hammer from his waist and shouting, "Who are you, you rat? Take this hammer!"
Wang Shuaibo turned around and was startled, instinctively taking two steps back.
He pointed at Liu Huasheng's donkey cart and said angrily, "What's your background? What are your connections? How did you even manage to get a ride like that!"
He immediately identified Liu Huasheng as a high-class player.
His game assistant, however, remained calm and composed, standing still and looking at Liu Huasheng with half-closed eyes, asking, "Do you have any extra food here?"
"food?"
Liu Huasheng reined in the goat and curiously examined it.
The goat said, "Yes, we're not here to steal from your house this time. We're here to buy food. My master has been without food for a day, and his strength is failing. If he doesn't eat soon, he'll starve to death!"
Liu Huasheng looked at Wang Shuaibo and asked, "What happened?"
"My master starved to death, which won't benefit you either. We can buy his grain at a high price!"
"How about dried rats?"
"Great! Absolutely! My owner loves dried mouse meat; he's never had enough!"
"I have plenty of dried rats, I'll sell them to you for 10 gold coins each, how about it?"
Without the slightest hesitation, the goat replied, "Alright! My master has plenty of resources; he currently has over seven hundred gold coins and three hundred wood!"
"In that case, double the price!"
"Doubling the price is acceptable, shall we trade immediately...?"
Before the goat could finish speaking, Wang Shuaibo kicked him and yelled, "You're just a goat, and you want to stand up for me?"
He then looked at Liu Huasheng and shouted, "You heartless bastard! You're selling dried rats for such a high price! I'd rather starve to death, I'd rather jump off a hill than buy from you! I may be a commoner player, but I have plenty of pride, and I will never bow down to you aristocratic players!"
After saying that, he dragged the goat away.
There was still a hint of reluctance in the goat's eyes.
In fact, Wang Shuaibo had also explored the map. Buying grain from Liu Huasheng was not his first choice. He went to two highlands and met two lord players, hoping to buy grain from them, but those two lords refused to sell to him at all.
In the early stages of the game, food is a scarce survival resource.
In this world, you really do get hungry if you don't eat. If you're hungry, you can't recover your stamina. Without stamina, you can't build towers. If the towers can't hold up, the next wave of monsters will leak through. It's a vicious cycle!
"Master, why don't you reconsider? I think his price is acceptable!"
The goat assistant tried to persuade Wang Shuaibo.
Wang Shuaibo wished he could stew this assistant, thinking to himself how he ended up with such an idiot assistant.
As Liu Huasheng watched Wang Shuaibo walk away, he thought to himself that it was a waste to leave so many dried rats in his hands; he had to sell them to this destined person.
"Ah Fu, you have unlimited stamina and aren't afraid of death, go be my salesman, and make sure to sell the dried rats to Jump Cliff Bro tonight..."
Liu Huasheng then gave the donkey Afu a special training session. A moment later, the donkey led Liu Huasheng to the foot of Wang Shuaibo's high ground.
Liu Huasheng got off the cart here, but the donkey continued on, pulling the flatbed cart up to higher ground. Once up, it started shouting at the top of its lungs, "Dried rats, dried rats, fresh dried rats, only 20 yuan a piece!"
This shout was, of course, the result of Liu Huasheng's special training.
As a game assistant, the donkey has unlimited health and is not afraid of Wang Shuaibo's arrow towers at all. When it sees Wang Shuaibo, it chases after him and shouts in his face: "Dried rats, dried rats, only 20 yuan a piece, keep shouting if you don't buy!"
Holy crap!
Wang Shuaibo was stunned!
What the hell is going on?!
The goat assistant's eyes lit up. "Master," he said, "since it's been delivered to our door, let's buy it! We can't build towers without stamina. If our base gets invaded and destroyed by wild monsters tomorrow, we'll be going to our graves with our gold coins!"
"Damn it, do you even need to tell me!"
After much deliberation, Wang Shuaibo finally succumbed to reality. He beckoned to Donkey Afu and said, "Hey donkey, come here. Can you make the dried rats cheaper?"
"My owner said that each piece of dried rat meat costs 20 yuan, but there are discounts for bulk orders. I can sell you 50 pieces for 700 gold coins, plus a free bottle of mineral water!"
"Damn it, are they trying to drain me dry?"
Wang Shuaibo gritted his teeth. Buying dried rats individually would be too wasteful, so he eventually spent 700 gold to buy 50 pieces of dried rats.
"The boss is very generous, a pleasant transaction, I'll come again next time!"
Donkey Afu's flatbed cart had a built-in trading panel, making transactions very convenient. He received the gold coins and happily pulled the flatbed cart away.
Liu Huasheng was waiting below the high ground. When he saw him come down, he hurriedly went to greet him. When he saw that there were 700 gold coins on the flatbed truck panel, he immediately beamed with joy.
"Good donkey, good donkey! You've worked hard, keep going on your trade routes, head to other players' highlands!"
Liu Huasheng replenished some dried rats on the flatbed cart, then went back to the gold mine to sleep, leaving his donkey Afu to sell the goods on his own.
This donkey was really something, wandering from one high ground to another. He wasn't afraid of defensive towers, and he would shout as soon as he entered, causing the lord players to secretly curse him as a swindler.
The next morning, Liu Huasheng got up early, stretched, and felt full of energy!
Donkey Afu also returned. He hawked his wares all night, but only sold 10 pieces of dried rat meat, earning 200 gold coins!
Liu Huasheng was delighted and said, "200 gold coins is quite a lot. Donkey, you did a great job! Keep going later!"
Donkey Afu said, "Master, the third wave of monster invasion is about to begin. Let's prepare for battle!"
"Alright! My stamina is fully restored. Let's build the fourth basic arrow tower and see what amazing abilities it will have this time!"
Liu Huasheng began constructing the fourth basic arrow tower with practiced ease. Soon, his stamina was exhausted, and he had consumed one hundred gold coins and one hundred wood each. The fourth basic arrow tower then rose from the ground.
This basic arrow tower looks completely different from the previous three. It is not a tower, but a standing statue of a groundhog, about ten meters tall. It looks quite tall, with its mouth half open, looking silly and cute.
Liu Huasheng was stunned, feeling that the statue was about to let out a loud "Ah!" any second!
There were no words on the statue. Liu Huasheng checked its attribute information and found that its magical ability was [Taunt Golem].
[Taunt Golem: The tower has a golem form. In this form, it cannot attack, but its durability is increased by 5 times, and it receives an additional 50% damage reduction. It can also attract the aggro of monsters within its attack range, roughly equivalent to a LV1 taunt. The golem form can be dispelled, restoring the tower to its original function. If the monsters have no attack power, they are unaffected by the golem's taunt.]
Note: Buildings typically have a 50% damage reduction from normal attacks, and this reduction stacks multiplicatively. Therefore, the Taunt Golem receives an actual 75% damage reduction from normal attacks!
"A tank has arrived, not bad. Move him to the front to draw the mobs, perfect for the Kill Tower to rack up kills!"
Liu Huasheng thought for a moment and asked the donkey, "Afu, do the third wave of invading monsters have any attack power? If I move this taunt statue to the front, won't it get destroyed by the monsters?"
The donkey said, "There were no monsters in the first two waves, and I don't know about the third wave!"
"Isn't that obvious?"
Liu Huasheng muttered something, but quickly spent 100 gold coins to move the Taunt Golem to the high ground intersection, about 20 meters in front of the Killing Arrow Tower.
After moving the taunting golem, Liu Huasheng approached the parkour bear. He opened the strategy map and, with a few simple operations, set the parkour bear as an invading monster. It would follow the third wave of monsters to invade Wang Shuaibo's territory!
