Chapter 19 Roasted Whole Lamb
Chapter 19 Roasted Whole Lamb
When Tang She went downstairs, he saw five women from three generations chatting together and instinctively wanted to find another place to stay.
Ren Wei, who had been subtly observing the stairwell, saw him come down and quickly went up to him, asking in a low voice:
"What did my dad say to you?"
Tang She was stunned when he heard the question. He had really forgotten how to deal with Ren Wei. A bead of cold sweat slid down his forehead. He pretended to clear his throat, but in reality, he was thinking faster.
"It's nothing, just telling me about your childhood so I can take better care of you and bear with any grievances I may have."
Ren Wei, who hadn't blushed before, blushed a little this time, muttering softly:
Why am I telling you all this...?
Then, she patted her cheeks, pretending to be nonchalant, and said to Tang She:
"My second uncle has some work to take care of and is busy right now. If you're bored, I can take you to my room. There are all the game consoles from every generation there, so you can play whatever you want."
Tang She shook his head. He wasn't the senior's real boyfriend, and the idea of going into a woman's bedroom was too abstract.
"I'll go for a walk in the yard, you just do what you're doing, senior."
Seeing Tang She refuse, Ren Wei nodded without saying anything more, but a hint of disappointment flashed across her face.
Of course, this wasn't because of any romantic feelings or anything like that; it was simply because she couldn't show off her various treasured possessions anymore.
Tang She walked into the courtyard. The villa's courtyard wasn't small. A man who looked to be around thirty years old was busy in a corner of the courtyard. Tang She walked over and saw that the man was processing a small lamb. It looked like he was going to roast a whole lamb.
"With only a few people eating, can they possibly finish one sheep?"
The chef who roasts the whole lamb had already seen him approaching, so he wasn't surprised by his question.
"This sheep weighs only about ten pounds. In our area, it's not enough to feed six people."
Upon hearing this, Tang She nodded. Although the sheep looked quite large, ten pounds was indeed not much.
Since he had nowhere else to go, he could only continue talking to his master.
"But wouldn't roasting a whole lamb make it too gamey?"
The master looked up and gave him a serious look, then thought for a moment.
"My sheep are all air-freighted from the Northwest. They learn the Li Sao from birth, so they don't taste gamey."
"Master has quite a talent for telling jokes, huh?"
The two chatted casually, and time passed quickly. The lamb was almost roasted when Tang Wei's second uncle returned. As soon as he entered the villa, he saw the two roasting lamb in the corner of the yard and couldn't help but tease them:
"Little Tang even knows how to roast lamb? Your older brother is such a disappointment, all he does is research how to eat, he's a real foodie."
"Dad, what are you saying? According to your logic, wouldn't Tang just spend all his time figuring out how to play games?"
"Get lost, you brat, what kind of twisted logic is that? Xiao Tang, I didn't mean it that way. Don't mind me, you have other things to do. Come inside, you two can talk."
Tang She's brain was working at high speed, and he barely managed to understand his second uncle's logic. Then he stared at the roast lamb chef next to him, dumbfounded.
"Are you the senior's cousin?"
The man continued to stare at the stove in front of him, his expression unchanged.
"You didn't ask."
Nothing much happened at the dinner table. Everyone chatted and laughed, enjoying themselves immensely. However, Tang She had been given quite a bit of alcohol and staggered as he left, eventually being helped away by Ren Wei.
After the car started and Ren Wei left, Aunt Ren shook her head helplessly.
"This girl, her family didn't arrange any blind dates for her, why did she bring back a fake one?"
The second uncle, who had just taken his drowsy granddaughter back to her bedroom, smiled upon hearing this and offered words of comfort:
"Isn't Xiaowei just like you two when you were young? She thinks her career is more important and she doesn't have time for dating."
Uncle Ren, who had been lying on the sofa pretending to be asleep, sat up and snorted coldly.
"Her mother and I got married a long time ago when we were her age, it's just that we had her a little later."
Aunt Ren agreed with her husband and continued, "..."
"Even if she thinks her career is important, she can just tell her family. Her dad and I aren't unreasonable people; let her do what she wants."
Hearing this, his cousin, who had been silent the whole time, couldn't help but chuckle twice. His aunt, hearing his laughter, tapped him on the head.
"Speak properly, what are you grinning about?"
"It's nothing, I just remembered that my dad said I'm a glutton. We younger generation, especially those of you who seem to be doing nothing productive, how dare we tell the truth?"
Upon hearing this, the elders at the dinner table fell silent. They had been young once too, and naturally knew what the young people were thinking, but they simply chose not to.
Seeing that the atmosphere around them was a bit tense, the sister-in-law took the initiative to smooth things over and change the subject:
"I think that young Tang is quite good-looking and talkative. After a while, what's fake might become real."
And the second aunt quickly echoed this:
"That's right, I noticed Xiaowei was protecting her very closely today, maybe there's really a chance."
However, Aunt Tang had a different opinion:
"Protecting him tightly? That's because she's afraid of being exposed. Do you think I don't know what kind of person that brat is? If she really liked Xiao Tang, the first thing she would do is bring him to her 'museum.' Look at today, she didn't mention him once."
However, Tang's father had a different opinion.
"It's good enough that she's willing to bring him home; she should be content. Besides, the two games Xiao Tang made are quite good and suit her taste. Given time, things might actually work out. At least she's better than those young masters in the industry. If two people marry each other and don't have anything in common, life will be incredibly boring."
The others agreed with Uncle Tang's point of view and didn't say anything more.
There are plenty of good young men in the circle, but they're all already taken. Take my cousin and his wife, for example; they started dating back in middle school. The older generation insisted on bringing them together, which only made things unpleasant for both sides.
Besides, everyone has been raised like a young master or young lady since childhood, so who can spoil whom?
Finally, Uncle Ren let out a long sigh. He had indeed wanted his daughter to come back to him before, but now he had changed his mind. As long as his daughter was happy, anything was fine. He realized he should change his old-fashioned ideas.
As for the agreement with Tang She?
He decided to maintain the status quo for now, since there was no harm in it anyway.
Then, remembering the Plants vs. Zombies incident, he spoke up:
"Nephew, your sister's company hasn't been getting much publicity lately. Don't you have some kind of live streaming platform? Help her promote it, so she doesn't lose interest and quit."
My cousin really wanted to remind his uncle that he wasn't joking, but he figured it would be pointless to say anything. Changes have to be made little by little, and the uncle's level of acceptance is already pretty good.
"Okay, leave this to me."
