Chapter 1810 - 1809 - Return of the Emerald Dragon
Chapter 1810 - 1809 - Return of the Emerald Dragon
Bryth was nervous. She was currently in a carriage being taken to her kingdom. Her guards were all tied up and Shatterheart was trussed up like a boar!
It was all fake, of course, yet she could not calm her nerves. Divine Lord Lind Frey had spent months delving into the Veridian Bone Sect and her Kingdom of Blades. It had been far worse than she had imagined.
Not only her father, but other powers under the sect had been at play! They were all working to break the taboo!
She had been offered up to the Kord Clan not as a sacrifice but as a price for the next segment of the technique!
The driver was silent as he guided the simple horses. They were only World Realm beasts, but that only made them tireless for the trip. They had crossed the border and picked up the royal guard.
The bright silver metal armor was inlaid with black insignias. It was a sword, a dagger, and a spear crossed over a sun. All blades were the world was what she had been told.
She had been proud of that symbol but now it made her sick. All the guards were happily talking about how her coup was over and her traitorous mother was long expunged from the register.
She wanted to scream at them but she held back. The months long trip was finally coming to an end.
The leader of the hunting force, Mu, was being celebrated as a hero. He spoke of how they had encountered a pair of Divine Realm beasts fighting and barely escaped with their prey.
It was partially true as Divine Lord Lind Frey was a Divine Realm beast. It took them so long to get back due to the need to recover from the experience.
Mu made sure no one suffered too much. He affirmed his orders were clear, the group was to be delivered in pristine condition for the trial.
No one questioned him as it was actually true.
The driver said nothing and simply did his job until they finally came to the City of Iron. It was the capital and was full of refiners and Forgers that specialized in weapons. The dark walls were at least 15 meters tall.
It was impossible to miss as they cut into the sky. Anyone trying to assault the city would find the walls manned by forces ready to drop death on them. Arrows, daggers, and even swords would be launched like projectiles.
It was the Blade Wall for a reason.
She had always felt happy to see them from afar before, yet now she felt only disdain. She had been born there and had many memories. They were all tainted now.
She had not been sure how she would feel, and now she wished she had never come back.
The crowds gathered as the wagon moved through the streets. The covers had been pulled back and now they were all on display. They were jeering but the city guard prevented any projectiles being thrown.
The people she had thought she would one day rule over hated her. All the affection in her heart died until a small girl ran forward to stop the wagon.
She was a demon with bright pink hair and dark eyes. She looked angry.
"Princess Bryth is not a traitor! She will never be a traitor!" The tiny figure would have been crushed but the driver stopped the wagon. Mu quickly hopped out and held up his hands.
The crowd became quiet as he knelt down.
"What makes you say that, little one?" The human indulging the child made the crowd nearly incensed yet many held back. She was a small child afterall.
The little demoness pointed to her left and all swiveled their heads to see a tower a few blocks back from the street.
"The orphanage was failing. We were starving and she supported us. She made sure we had a chance to be well fed and cultivate! She came and appointed big sis! She even made it so we could help more kids!" The girl was too young.
There was no way she could have been there 250 years ago yet the crowd became disturbed as it was all true. There were, in fact, 3 orphanages that had been supported by Princess Bryth.
There were also various facilities that helped rogue cultivators find resources and have chances to advance as well. Bryth smiled at the small child and Mu found it hard to refute such a fact.
Even after 250 years, the support held up as Bryth had ensured it did not need her direct efforts. It was such a mundane thing that most cultivators would ignore it.
Mu sighed and patted her head while she looked at him in anger.
"The King has been wronged. The Princess and her guards have to face the consequences. Is that wrong?" His words made the crowd rouse themselves. They renewed their anger but some were not as involved as before.
A little girl reminded them that they owed the princess.
The small demoness was about to clearly yell when the driver began to laugh. Mu looked back in surprise but then sighed.
The driver hopped down and also knelt at the girl but he was laughing even harder.
"Well said! You are right, little one. The princess gave much for the people of her kingdom. The vile King will not have his way." The words seemed to overwrite the murmur of the crowd. They were stunned into silence when the driver shimmered.
A young man with tanned jade skin appeared with emerald hair. He then changed as a massive dragon replaced him. He floated up into the sky and the massive sinuous body cast a shadow across the city.
A pressure unlike any they had felt filled the entire kingdom.
[I am Divine Lord Lind Frey, and I have come to bring justice for Princess Bryth.] The bindings on Bryth and the others vanished.
She looked up and knew the plan had been derailed but they were already in the city. It did not matter if they started in the streets or in the palace. Lind Frey was unstoppable now that he was there.
His family and forces were already isolating the Kingdom of Blades and other places. They would be caught no matter what they did now.
Further, Divine Lord Lind Frey was a legend to the entire Divine Lands. If he was on her side, who would doubt her? The crowd showed that as many were at first confused then stunned.
The little demoness looked shaken but Lind protected her as Mu stepped back. His part was over.
Emerald light spread across the wagon as the guards found their weapons restored to them. Bryth saw Shatterheart test her bow and then wink at her!
The procession then moved on. They were neither obstructed nor jeered at.
Instead, it was clear the residents now wanted to know what was going on. The palace came into sight and its towers were even higher than the walls.
Lind Frey flew over to it and the royal guards tried to stop him. It was laughable as he snorted a breath and it shattered the wards.
There were those that had heard the legends and they no longer doubted them. Nothing could stop him.
Bryth returned to the home she had known for almost a thousand years. The royal guard did not even try to keep fighting as it was clear a Master Tier had come.
Lind Frey remained in his dragon form and looked at the central structure of the palace.
[Come out, King of Blades, or I will come in!] Bryth felt a tremor in her soul. Would he really tear open the palace?!
There was only silence but then the air shifted. The palace was sliced open like it was paper! The various rooms were exposed and many humans and demons screamed in terror.
The main hall was revealed and her father was exposed in the act. He was meeting with elders of the Veridian Sect! They were only Journeyman Tiers and they stood no chance in front of Lind Frey.
[Good, I hoped to find you bastards as well. Where are your thralls? If you give them to me freely, your death will be painless.] The words sent shockwaves into the crowd. Before even a breath had passed, two figures were floating in the air.
One was a male demon and the other a male human. Two caskets quickly enveloped them and the elders were left without recourse as they clearly did not anticipate Lind Frey’s actions.
[It seems you think I was joking, I was not.] The sky suddenly filled with black clouds as black lightning slammed into the elders. The entire crowd underwood then. The Heavens had sent a karmic tribulation!
Bryth only felt like the last links to her past were severed. Her home was a lie. All of it was a front for horrific forces.
Lind unleashed his emerald dragon breath and emerald lightning to shatter a few more enemies. His actions made many realize they were in the wrong. Lind Frey was just like in his legends!
Several figures flew to the horizon but Lind’s mane flared as a weaving was created to make a barrier.
[I was looking for you as well!] The hooded figures tried to do something but then seemed shocked when nothing happened. [You will die when I allow you to!]
Bryth finally felt something fall away. The pressure of the constant hunt and the plan to get into the capitol were all done. The Divine Lord would take care of everything from there.
She looked up at the massive emerald dragon and she felt only 1 thing. The horrific crimes of her father would be brought to justice. Her mother’s death would be avenged! Bryth looked on as the massive dragon picked apart the sins of her family.
The Kingdom of Blades was dead and she could not be happier.
