Chapter 16 Protection Accounting

Chapter 16 Protection Accounting

The guy who was talking confidently on TV just moments ago is now looking panicked, like a stray dog.

Li Wei stood at the front of the crowd, carefully observing his surroundings.

He remembered clearly that after Rhys came out, someone should have pulled out a gun.

Although this guy wasn't hit in the original storyline, with players joining, who knows what changes might occur?

After looking around, Li Wei's gaze quickly settled on a fat man wearing a brown jacket.

His right hand was in his pocket, his face was tense, and he kept looking up at the building entrance.

"Quick, danger!"

Li Wei whispered a reminder to the officer next to him, then rushed towards the fat man.

Now that we've discovered it, we certainly can't let this guy pull out his gun.

"stop!"

Seeing that the fat man was about to draw his gun and fire, Li Wei shouted and lunged at him.

Startled by his loud shout, the big man was clearly taken aback.

In that instant, Li Wei jumped up and kicked him in the wrist, causing the big man to stumble and drop a black Kellogg pistol to the ground.

Upon seeing this, the police officer who had followed him pulled out handcuffs from his lower back and cuffed the fat man's wrists.

The fat man tried to resist, but after being elbowed by a police officer, he calmed down.

Looking at the dizzy, chubby man, Li Wei couldn't help but gasp.

It must be said that the police officers' handling of the situation was very Gotham-esque.

All of this sounds like a long story, but it actually happened in a matter of moments.

Once the dust settled, the surrounding crowd erupted in uproar.

Gordon noticed the situation and quickly rushed over.

"Hey buddy, what are your thoughts on what to do next?"

Gordon looked at Rhys, who was being protected in the center by the crowd, and asked Levi for his thoughts.

"My thoughts?" Levi thought for a moment. "I'll follow your arrangements, Sheriff Gordon."

He knew that Rhys would be escorted back to the police station by Gordon, and he also knew that there were officers in the car who hoped the guy would die.

But then again, it would be quite satisfying to see this guy actually get killed.

"Alright, let's escort him back to the police station first; it's too dangerous here."

Gordon knew exactly what Li Wei was thinking from his calm reaction.

This guy had no interest in Rhys at all; his involvement in protecting him was merely a matter of duty.

After Gordon finished speaking, he instructed the officers to clear a path leading to the police car.

Soon, Rhys, who was being protected by the crowd in the center, arrived in front of the two. Without time for pleasantries, Gordon arranged for Rhys to get into the police car.

"Li Wei, you come up too, let's go back to the police station together!"

Gordon's voice came from the car, and Li Wei reluctantly stepped into the police car.

As soon as Li Wei got into the police car, he noticed a young police officer sitting in the back seat.

He was young, clutching a shotgun tightly in his hand, his expression shifting between light and shadow, as if he were making a difficult decision.

Having watched the original series, Li Wei knew that this police officer had family members in the hospital.

After some internal struggle, the officer decided to kill Rhys in order to protect his family's safety.

"Hey buddy, relax a bit, you seem really nervous."

Li Wei smiled at the young police officer and gestured for him to relax and chat for a bit, which would help lower his guard.

"Mr. Levi, I just..."

"Don't worry, everything will be alright, don't overthink it."

Li Wei patted the officer on the shoulder, signaling him to relax.

After doing all this, he plopped down next to Gordon, facing the accountant Rhys directly.

"Chief Gordon... and Mr. Levi, thank you for the police's assistance..."

Rhys thanked the two of them, and to Levi's surprise, the guy's tone was surprisingly calm.

He didn't look like an ordinary person being hunted down at all.

"Mr. Rhys, protecting every citizen is the duty of the police."

Gordon looked at Rhys and said softly, "Regarding revealing Batman's identity, I personally think you should think about it carefully..."

"Chief Gordon, I will carefully consider your suggestion. Thank you."

After Rhys finished speaking, he acted as if nothing had happened, and even had the mind to look at the layout of the police car.

While the guy seemed to be surveying the scene inside the police car, Li Wei noticed that the guy opposite him had been secretly observing him.

"Mr. Rhys, you know me?"

"The renowned Prophet, of course I have heard of your name."

Rhys smiled at Levi, "If it weren't for you, the bombs planted by the Joker wouldn't have been so easy to defused."

Especially considering what happened at the police station, if it weren't for you, many brave young men would have sacrificed their lives in vain.

This guy is suspicious!

Upon hearing Rhys's praise, Levi immediately became more wary of the guy.

When the Joker planted the bomb, he mentioned the title "Mr. Prophet," but many people have no idea that Levi is the legendary "Mr. Prophet."

All of this was naturally Li Wei's idea; he just wanted to stay in Gotham and take advantage of whatever came his way.

In Gotham, fame doesn't bring any real benefits.

Li Wei prefers something more practical to flashy but empty titles.

So, the fact that Rhys knew he was "Mr. Prophet" is quite intriguing.

Ordinary citizens couldn't possibly know about this; the only ones who would know that the Asian youth at the police station was "Mr. Prophet" are probably gamers...

At this moment, Rhys looked at the Asian youth sitting opposite him and was very surprised.

He never imagined that simply accepting police protection would lead him to meet this famous "Prophet".

He became an accountant for Wayne Enterprises as soon as he entered the game world.

To be honest, he was quite satisfied with this identity.

After all, the salary is high and the work is easy; the only drawback is that there are too few ways to gain reputation.

He accumulated some reputation by giving a few coins to beggars every day, but this method of gaining reputation was too slow.

After all, in Gotham, a city known for its honest and simple people, there are very few real beggars, let alone beggars with a grateful heart.

Just as he was figuring out how to quickly increase his reputation and unlock traits.

He suddenly discovered a stack of documents in his study—documents about Wayne Group's financial statements.

After a brief recollection, he remembered what it was.

Therefore, he immediately contacted Lucius Fox, the head of the technology department at Wayne Group.

But when he asked the old black man for 1000 million—just 1000 million per year—it was a different story.

Not only did this guy refuse, he also severely humiliated him.

If it weren't for the fact that all reputation would be wiped out upon death, he would definitely have shown that wretched old black man how powerful players could be.

He still remembers what the guy said: "You think your client is one of the richest and most powerful people in the world."

In secret, he was a chivalrous knight-errant who would beat criminals into a pulp with his bare hands at night.

And yet you plan to blackmail this person? I can only wish you good luck!

Especially the old black man's eyes, which made Rhys feel that his self-esteem had been deeply hurt.

He just wanted to use the money to boost his reputation.

However, since he was rejected, he decided to go all out and directly announced that he would reveal Batman's identity.

To his surprise, the Joker actually threatened him with death.

Deep down, he wasn't afraid of being threatened by the Joker.

At worst, I'll die, but I'll be a hero again tomorrow.

But after the Joker's words spread throughout Gotham, Rhys felt a pang of reluctance to die...
