Chapter 15 Shielded Duck
Chapter 15 Shielded Duck
The skill interface unfolds, and familiar prompts appear:
Please recite the following incantation, using flesh and blood as a catalyst, to awaken your companions slumbering deep within the ship's spirit.
As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. Even with another guy, A, on the boat, Yu Wang could suppress his shame and fluently recite the summoning incantation:
"Quack quack quack, ducks row like boats! Our bellies rumble, let's offer fish and shrimp!"
After the incantation was recited, the 100 units of turtle meat that were selected disappeared.
A warm yellow light once again shone from the top of the yellow plastic duck head at the bow of the ship, but this time the light seemed more solid and slightly darker in color than when duck A was summoned last time.
"Gah—!!!"
A loud quack, even deeper and slightly hoarse than when Duck A made his entrance, suddenly rang out!
Immediately afterwards, a figure that was noticeably larger than "Duck A" and almost the size of a medium-sized suitcase suddenly "emerged" out from the light on the top of the duck's head!
It landed on the deck with a "thud" in a less-than-elegant parabola, making the Little Yellow Duck ship sway slightly.
The already limited cabin space was made even worse!
Yu Wang stared intently and almost burst out laughing.
It's still a plastic duck, but its design is quite unique.
Its entire body is the same golden yellow as Duck A, with a heavy, plastic-like texture. The most striking feature is the small tuft of green feathers stubbornly growing on its head!
It was even wearing a two-sided turtle shell!
"It wouldn't be called a green-feathered duck, would it?" Yu Wang suppressed a laugh, his heart filled with curiosity.
He immediately opened the panel to check the attributes of this new summon with its unique design:
Name: Shielded Duck
[Level: 1]
[Type: Summoned Item]
[HP: 100/100]
[Recovery time: 10 days]
[Description: Summoned from armored sea beasts rich in life energy and armor essence. Thick armor and high health, but slow-moving; intelligence… well, let's not discuss that. Suitable as a meat shield to draw fire or a temporary roadblock. Expect it to fight? You're better off expecting it to choke monsters.]
"Keep in formation. From now on, you'll be called Duck B," Yu Wang said to the armored duck.
"Quack!" Duck B responded simply and directly.
After arranging the naming, Yu Wang began to study the details of the summoned creatures.
Duck B has a health value of 100 points, which is ten times that of Duck A!
This terrifying tankiness truly lives up to the name "Shield Armor".
However, its awakening period is the same as Duck A, which is 10 days. It seems that the duration may be related to the level of the summoned creature, rather than the type of meat energy consumed.
"How do they level up?" Yu Wang wondered, looking at the two ducks with very different appearances.
He tried taking out a piece of turtle meat and handing it to Duck B.
Duck B lowered its head, touched the piece of meat with its flat beak, and then... nothing happened.
It swayed its head like a pendulum, and its green fur swayed with its head in the wind, showing no desire to eat.
Feeding was ineffective.
"It seems that leveling up isn't done through feeding." Yu Wang retracted the piece of meat, lost in thought.
He wasn't sure how his summoned creatures would improve, but he stopped worrying about it. His priority was to deal with the wolf eel underwater and retrieve the silver-edged bronze treasure chest!
"We'll talk about the upgrade later. Now, DuckB, come with me." Yu Wang gave the instruction to Thick-Armored Duck, while also preparing to dive himself.
The water surface near the staghorn reef.
Since the shield duck was slow to move, Yu Wang cleverly and securely tied several ropes to the duck's thick shell, forming a crisscrossing strap structure, and finally leaving a knotted intersection on its chest that could be held by hand.
He then dived into the water, gripped the knot with one hand, and dragged the entire duck-shaped object in front of him.
"You know what..." Yu Wang tried adjusting his angle in the water. The turtle shell, about the size of a suitcase, was quite large, protecting his torso from behind. "It's kind of like Captain America."
With a tortoise shell in one hand and a harpoon in the other, Yu Wang experienced increased resistance and a sharp drop in speed while swimming, but his sense of security was genuinely enhanced.
This shield might prove surprisingly effective when facing attacks from wolf eels.
Once ready, Yu Wang once again dived towards that familiar patch of staghorn coral.
The coral reefs remain vibrant in color.
From afar, he saw the burly, grayish-brown figure still lurking in the crevice near the treasure chest, its yellow eyes warily scanning the surroundings.
The wolf eel had spotted Yu Wang long ago, but it preferred prey that it could swallow whole.
However, Yu Wang was too large a prey for it to ambush.
As the prey approaches, the wolf eel becomes noticeably alert, its robust body arching slightly and its head turning towards the direction of the prey.
Yu Wang was not afraid. He first protected Duck B in front of him, then raised the crab claw harpoon in his hand and provocatively made a few feints towards the direction of the wolf eel.
The wolf eel was already furious because Yu Wang had driven away its prey and stepped into its territory!
The current provocative behavior has completely enraged it! As the dominant species on this coral reef, it will not tolerate repeated offenses!
"Giggle—!!!"
With a furious hiss, the wolf eel's thick body suddenly burst out from the coral crevice!
With a powerful slap of its tail fin, it stirred up a murky current of water, transforming into a ferocious, grayish-brown afterimage. Its gaping maw, filled with sharp teeth, lunged at Yu Wang!
This is exactly the effect Yu Wang wanted!
He didn't linger in the fight, nor did he even attempt to attack with his crab claws or harpoons. Instead, he immediately turned around, kicked off the waves with his legs, and swam toward the surface at top speed!
The staghorn corals that wolf eels inhabit are located in relatively deep underwater areas.
Even though Yu Wang had moored the "Little Yellow Duck" in the closest possible location, the straight-line distance from the coral reef to the water's surface was still ten meters!
This means that Yu Wang needs to swim upwards at least seven meters using his own strength to lure the wolf eel into the range of the water cannon!
Seven meters!
For an average person, accelerating from a standstill to swim seven meters takes approximately 3 to 8 seconds, depending on factors such as swimming ability, explosive power, and whether they panic.
Yu Wang's physique, enhanced by the title of "Conspicuous Pack I", is superior to the average level, and it will take him about 4 to 5 seconds.
However, for a wolf eel that hunts by surprise, catching up to that seven-meter distance might only take less than two seconds!
The difference between life and death lies in just a few short seconds!
Yu Wang had never felt that four seconds was so long! The icy seawater roared past his ears, the spot of light above grew larger and larger, but the deadly threat behind him, carrying the fishy wind and churning water, was also approaching at an alarming speed!
He could even feel the force of the water being violently sliced apart!
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a huge, grayish-brown shadow rapidly enlarging, its sharp teeth gleaming as if they were already touching the soles of my feet!
Sensing the approach of the wolf eel, Yu Wang suppressed the primal urge to "swim upstream at all costs" in his mind, and his body suddenly stopped and half-spun underwater!
With his back to the water, he raised his hand and shoved the duck B hard at the wolf eel that was lunging at him!
'Bang!'
A dull thud echoed underwater!
The wolf eel slammed solidly into the very center of Duck B's hard shell! The enormous impact caused Duck B's entire body to shudder violently, and its health points instantly dropped by 5!
